Qu'est-ce que je disais?

Qu'est-ce que je disais? was composed for my friends Mioi Takeda and Lynn Bechtold. While working on the piece, I tried to capture the freedom you have during an internal monologue or dialogue based on the seemingly random musings on music and life that happen when you find a moment of solitude in the middle of a noisy café, or as you gaze out a window and are lost in thoughts as people pass by, or you are falling asleep and lapse into stream of consciousness thoughts of the day’s events mixed with interjections of what you’ve heard and seen during the day. Then you realize, you’re in the middle of a conversation and ask, “What was I saying?”
